St. Patrick’s Day Art Competition

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: 19 FEB 2021

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2021 and drawing inspiration from Ireland’s most renowned stained glass artist, Harry Clarke, the Embassy of Ireland in Hungary has launched an art competition. We are calling all contemporary visual artists in Hungary, of all ages, to create the most creative art piece that is inspired by Ireland, Irish culture or Irish mythology for stained glass. Artists can apply to participate in the competition by submitting a design of their work. The visual art piece must be designed for stained glass.

Entries can be made to the following categories:

1. stained glass design inspired by Irish images, scenes;
2. stained glass design inspired by Irish culture (literature, music, dance, sport)
3. stained glass design inspired by Irish mythology

The stained glass design:

The design should be size: 50cm 60 cm, max size A3.
The design must be colourful.

Condition to enter the competition:

Only one entry per person

Prize:

The winner will see her or his design manufactured and displayed in the Residence of the Ambassador of Ireland and will also be awarded a prize fund of €300 (HUF100,000).

There are two ways to place your entry.

Please use "art competition" in the Subject Line. If sending by email, the design should be saved in jpg or png format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. The application with the design should ideally be submitted in horizontal format.

All submissions must be accompanied by full contact details, address and telephone numbers.
The design work must be an original work and not previously used in any similar format.

Closing date for entries: 19 February 2021

Selection Process:

The submitted portfolios of the artists will be presented to the Judging Panel, which consists of three jury members who will select a winner. The judging process is independent from the Hungarian art establishment and is totally independent from any outside influences. The selected finalists will have their work shown at the residence of the Irish Ambassador on St Patrick Day and in social media of the Budapest Irish Embassy in March 2021.

Other terms & Conditions:

The Embassy of Ireland Hungary will retain usage rights to the selected image for a maximum period of three years.
The Embassy of Ireland Hungary owns the rights to use the image for the stated purpose and related uses and platforms without additional permissions or fees. The artist’s name will be credited whenever the image utilised.
