Artistic Anatomy and Projection

Language of instruction: Hungarian
Course requirements: Attending the classes and completing the drawing exercises are mandatory.
Method of evaluation of course work: Continuous evaluation of drawings prepared during the year, consultation, oral exam.
Marking method: Evaluation of drawings prepared during the year, oral exam.
Exam requirements: An adequate number of drawings that have been prepared during class time, lecture material supplemented by the material of the assigned literature.
Completion of comprehensive exam drawing.
Teaching methods: Lectures, completion of in-class drawing exercises (aids: live models, preparations, still life objects, geometrical bodies), consultation
Recommended study methods: Acquiring adequate knowledge and skill of anatomy and spatial representation with the help of conscious, analytical drawings. In parallel with the practical work, the continuous development and deepening of theoretical knowledge with the help of the lectures and assigned reading. Individual research.
Number of assignments the student is required to complete through individual work: one or two drawings or sketches per week.

Role of the course within the specialist training scheme: Analytical-type drawing exercises help in spatial orientation, composition and the designing of art work. Through attaining anatomical knowledge the depiction of the human body and three-dimensional representation become possible. Furthermore, the acquired drawing skills provide a fundamental basis in the descriptive and figurative arts.
Course description, major areas of study (per semester):
Semester 1: Anatomy:
Familiarisation with the skeletal frame and structure of the human body from the perspective of artistic anatomy. Study and representation of the names of bones and joints. Gaining an understanding of the spatial organisation and function of the skeletal structure.
Spatial Representation:
Freehand work focusing on the structure of simple geometrical bodies.
Semester 2: Anatomy:
Deepening of the practical and theoretical knowledge and skill gained in the first semester: examination of the entire spatial construction of the human skeleton in static positions and in motion. Comparative studies with the examination of animal skeletons.
Spatial Representation:
Geometrical bodies with shadow, drapery studies.
Semester 3: Anatomy:
Familiarisation with the musculature built onto the human skeletal system from the perspective of artistic anatomy.
Study and representation of the names and joining of muscles. Gaining an understanding of the spatial organisation and function of the musculature structure. Drawing and myographic analysis of movement.
Spatial Representation:
Handling of more complicated spatial problems (globe, cylinder, interpenetration, etc)
Still life, drapery on the human body.
Semester 4: Anatomy:
Deepening of the practical and theoretical knowledge and skill gained in the first semester: examination of the entire spatial construction of the human musculature in its entirety in static positions and in motion. Figural compositions, life-size sketch board drawings.
Spatial Representation:
Studies of interior spaces, building details.
Compositions whose purpose is to examine the relationship of figure and space.
