Course description, major areas of study (per semester):
By ways of introduction, the course surveys the main areas of interest - 20th century's major avantgarde trends, especially as of the 1960s - the significance of Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Beuys - conceptual art and the question of the redefinition of art - realism and the trends of the "New Painting" movement - changes in the concept of sculpture, readymade, environment and installation - happening, action, body art, performance - appropriation - media and intermedia - modern and postmodern theoretical trends, deconstruction, postructuralism.
