Course description:
This course deals with the specifics of motion picture art, in its differences to stage design, and its indispensability to the profession and art of scenography. The topics of the course include: space organisation in television, the similarities and differences between the theatre stage and the television studio, the use of lighting and materials in electronic images, the dramaturgy of colours, the opportunities and limitations presented by electronic, digital technology, designing space for multiple viewpoints. Further issues addressed: the similarities and differences between the film studio and the television studio, the practice of scenography in film from motive search and site reconnaissance to building sets, the methods of motion picture design according to the technical possibilities of a given era and the principles unique to operas, musicals, operettas and scenics.
