Course description:
In the course of the historical overview of motion picture culture, the most important works in film history are presented with a discussion of the major periods and key artists in film history. Emphasis is placed on special, image-centred works, such as silent movies inspired by the fine arts or avantgarde, etc. The thematic of the course includes: audio-visual space and time, the unique characteristics of black and white and colour film, the questions of light and shadow, set or environment, costume or clothing, the potential of space in film, montage techniques and internal editing in film history.
