Language of instruction: Hungarian
Course requirements: colloquium at the end of the 8th semester, final exam after the absolutorium (pre-degree certificate stating that all course-units have been completed)
Method of assessing coursework: Checking notes taken during lecture, checking for completion and quality of assignments, partly written, partly oral exam
Marking method: Mark is composed of the marks given for the written and oral portions of the exam.
Exam requirements: colloquium, which is composed of a written and an oral part
Teaching methods: lecture, demonstrative practical exercises, independent elaboration of special topics ? as problem solving exercises, personal consultation.
Suggested study methods: Participation in class lectures and practice, end-of-semester symposium, studying required and recommended reading, working out of independent topics: finding sources, preparation of topic outline.
Role of the course within the specialist training scheme:
The primary role of the course is to provide preparation for practical teaching work. In the light of methodology and practical experiences with teaching, ethical and practical questions surface. The course aims to help students answer these questions. It offers practical information regarding the planning of exercises, supervision and correction, assessment and evaluation, and teacher administration.
Course description, major areas of study (per semester):
General questions about the cultural and social role of visuality and education.
What is culture? What is the purpose of teaching? Progress and tradition in society and in culture. What is the role of art in culture and society? What is the role of mass communication in culture and society? The social and cultural role of public education.
The basic problems of teaching in practice
Questions and problems of the arrangement of teaching material. Practical topic elaboration. Knowledge and ability. The basic activities of teaching work. Education, pedagogy, administration. Social and ethical problems in education and pedagogy. The role of the teacher. Assuming the role and the questions that arise from it.
Assignment list
Practice of teaching work from the definition of topics to the establishment of the syllabus.
Planning exercises
Planning, designing, integrating and documenting exercises and assignments. Practical questions of giving out assignments. Motivational and ethical problems of exercises and assignments.
Supervision and correction
Supervision and correction as the most effective tools of education and pedagogy. Teaching work as a role.
Evaluation
Problems of evaluation. Application of viewpoints and concepts. Ethical problems of assessment and evaluation.
Syllabus
The administrative framework of teaching. Responsibilities and spheres of authority in teaching work. Practical and official syllabus. Major areas of study: methodology, pedagogy.
