Course description:
The objective of this course is to provide a technical basis for the study of stage design. Topics include: technical drawing, axonometric representation, perspective, knowledge of materials, familiarisation with the technical equipment installed on the stage, the manufacture and handling of sets. Students gain an understanding of the effects and application of lighting, as part of the entirety of stage design. Theatre performances are analysed from the perspective of lighting dramaturgy. Students gain knowledge of light sources and lighting effect mechanisms. In the course of the semesters, students formulate the lighting concepts for set designs and learn to prepare lighting designs.
