Drifting Through Cityscapes _ 2nd edition

Block Seminar
November 12-17, 2018

The Fall course programme for Mapping the Local is organised in the form of an international block seminar: a concentrated and intensive form of artistic practice and
research. The focus is on cities as cultural, social and economic entities and the manner in which, globally, cities have been transformed during the period
from the middle of the 20th century to the present.

The diverse political and cultural changes that mark the decade of the 1960s and the summer of ’68 form a time-frame of special interest.

Mapping the Local uses walking as a research process and means of exploration; it develops methodologies where cities provide a framework for
various critical art practices. Group and individual works will be elaborated by the end of the seminar. The collected research and projects will be
summarised in a presentation - to be developed by the participants - at the end of the seminar.

In the framework of the course Mapping the Local in cooperation with the art universities of Belgrade, Krakow, Nova Gorica and Rijeka.
A total amount of 40 students and 7 teachers are expected to take part in the 6 days long intensive program taking place between 12-17 November in Budapest.
